Carl is a graduate of Florida State University (A.A. 90, B.A. 92) and Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School (J.D. 95). Carl started his legal practice with James W. Hurt & Associates in Cordele, Georgia. In 1998, Carl relocated to Milledgeville, Georgia after accepting a position with the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office where he served as prosecutor for seven years.
As a former Assistant District Attorney he gained valuable trial experience. In 2004 Carl left the District Attorney's Office and formed The Cansino, Stribling & Cook, LLP. In 2004 he also became General Counsel for the Oconee Community Service Board a position that he presently holds. In April 2004, the Honorable Sonny Perdue, governor of the State of Georgia appointed Carl to serve on the Consumer Advisory Board to the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs and has been reappointed to serve under the Georgia State Department of Law, Consumer Protection Unit by Governor Deal. In 2006, the Milledgeville City Council appointed Carl to the position of Municipal Court Prosecutor for the City of Milledgeville. Carl is a member of the Ocmulgee Bar Association, Past President of the Baldwin Bar Association, a Vice-President and sustaining member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL). In 2016 he was elected by his peers to serve as a Board of Governor to the State Bar of Georgia from the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit. Carl’s practice area focuses on criminal defense.
